Research Analyst
 

Job Responsibilities:

The Research Analyst is responsible for supporting key sales functions, specifically, using both qualitative and quantitative research to position cable television as a viable advertising medium. This person will provide data analysis to be used in support of the advertising sales effort in the form of data reports and information as well as presentation formats Research data used will be Nielsen, TNS/CMR, Scarborough, MRI, Census, POLK, ABC Audits and Tribune. Research software includes Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint), Galaxy Navigator, Strata, MarketAdvisor, SRC’s SpotKnowledge, MaxQualitative, and QView.

Research Analyst
• Create generic category and consumer segment presentations in support of sales initiatives using mapping, ABC data, MRI, Scarborough, Nielsen and POLK automotive data.
• Create targeted research presentations for key clients.
• Assists in the creation of area coverage maps and zone information.
• Create positioning pieces for key programming and genres, describing the audience both quantitatively and qualitatively for local advertising.
• Position cable advertising as an effective medium, especially when compared with newspaper, radio and broadcast television.
• Serve as a resource and respond promptly to custom requests from sales.
• Attend weekly sales and marketing meetings.
• Keep Research Manager advised of issues that affect the department from the sales perspective (i.e. communicating new information needs, software issues, etc.).

Minimum Requirements:

College degree preferred or equivalent experience, analytical thinker, detail oriented, strong mathematical skills, advanced computer skills (particularly Excel & PowerPoint). Must be sales focused, experienced with managing multiple projects and comfortable in a fast-paced, data-driven environment. Good work ethic and written/verbal communication skills. Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research and experience with industry software is a plus
